Columbia & Susquehanna Model Railroad

Welcome to Columbia & Susquehanna Model Railroad, we are glad you stopped by. This HO train layout is built and maintained by donations and is located on the second floor of the Columbia Historic Preservation Society. The layout is part of the historic society, however it is a project that is self supported. There are some sections that were donated and moved, while other sections were built onsite. This has been a labor of love by many people donating their time and money. The train layout has been under almost constant construction since the beginning.

The Beginning

It first got it’s start in 1998 after store the first section that was donated 5 years prior. Since then there were other sections donated along with new sections added to connect them all together. The layout now encompasses most of the second floor of the museum. It has gone through changes over the years and is currently on a major upgrade. More tracks are being added, along with landscaping. It is still a good time to see the layout as you can also see the progress and how things are constructed. There is plenty to see and experience.

Why not stop by this weekend?

Consider stopping by the Columbia & Susquehanna Model Railroad which is located on the second floor. There is an O gauge club that also has a layout located on the first floor. This offers even more of a reason to stop by as you will be able to see two layouts at the same location. Everyone is friendly and more than willing to answer any questions you may have. It is open Saturdays and Sundays from 1:00pm-4:00pm and closed through the winter months after the open house. This layout is not for profit but to help keep the history of the railroad alive. When you stop by please consider making a donation to help maintain this for generations to come. Learn more about the history of the Columbia Railroad.
