About Us

A little about us. The HO train layout is part of the Columbia Historic Preservation Society and is located on the second floor of the museum, there is a chair lift to help patrons that have trouble doing stairs. There is a group of people that have donated their time and money in building and mainlining the train layout. It got its start in 1993 when it was donated to the museum. In 1998 work began in setting up the layout on the second floor of the Columbia Historic Preservation Society . In 2000, it was decided to build an HO diorama of Columbia as it appeared in the first half of the 20th century. The train layout to this day has continued to expand and parts replaced as needed. The most recent has been replacing some of the sagging tables, repairing tracks, and adding more buildings and scenery around the layout.

Most of the people help out on the weekends to work of the train layout. There are people with different skill sets that help out to work on everything. We are always open to having more help as this is a large layout. Not only can you learn new techniques you are also able to bring your trains to run on the layout. If you would like to learn more about us or even help with the train layout please contact us.
